EDIT: These people did some AWESOME colors on this! Go check it out!

Now I feel if I color it I won't do it enough justice.
I might still try with traditional media though. Colored pencils. Still not daring to paint it yet because I'm not that good with small details in paintings.
It has been soooo long since the last decent pic of him. I couldn't end the year without drawing my top-favorite-character-ever again. :]
I want to color this, whether digitally or traditionally, not sure yet, but I want to color it. Dunno when though.
I'd also love to have this in a shirt!

*EDIT 2* If you saw this in the 37th issue of Sonic Universe and wonder why it's under someone else's name, here's an explanation:

He made his apology, there's nothing else to be done. That's that.

The one TRULY evil Robotnik!
... and ugly...
Granted that the Archie Series current Robotnik is even more cold-hearted and posses an anarchic madness all his own, he can't possibly top this autocrat in terms of charisma and largess. I see Eggman Robotnik as more of an attempt by Archie to transpose the mideset of the Joker from The Dark Knight onto Robotnik's character.
Can you image if they took both the traits and appearance of classic Julian Robotnik and combined them with the more erratic madness and eccentrics of the current Dr. Eggman Robotnik now being passed off as the series' main villain? That would be fucking epic!!!
I never replied because I wanted to do so properly, and so never removed this message from my feedback, but I can't still make up a decent reply. I'll just tell you I'm with you all the way and agree to everything.
But I've also lost a lot of faith in Archie. However, I haven't caught on the the newer comics and I must before judging.
seriously compaired to the other robotnicks/eggmans.... this one pwns all

Consider the sprite the sincerest form of flattery.

And let me know if that project gets done. I'd love to see it.

And the orgasm-voice was just awesome as I've joked of that before.
Now, Archie comics added to that flashback from the cartoon and showed more of 'Julian' before his betreyal. He's call by another human. "Julian of the house of Ivo. Which would mean his father was the one named Ivo. The comic also added him a "last name" being Kintobor, which is Robotnik backwards.
So, as I like to think of each version of Robotnik as separate I call each differently. The official Sega version is Dr. Eggman, The one from the funny show is Ivo Robotnik and the Sat-am one is Julian.
Some fans would also call him Julian Ivo Kintobor but that's not really cannon.
I add Julian into my drawings of him because I want to set him apart in any search fans would make and so they know who to expect in my drawings instead of Eggman, whom I also draw often. :]
So, did this clear it up or confused you more?
In Sonic A, I use the names Robotnik & Eggman interchangeably, as I thought that was how they did it in the STH comics; is that correct? Also, am I correct in thinking that EggBotnik's (hee hee) current residence is New Megaopolis, which used to be Mobotropolis?
"The funny show..." Was that that short-lived Sonic spinoff? The one with Scratch & Grounder? I saw a few episodes of that; HILARIOUS. Not what you could call an official Sonic storyline by any means, but still hilarious.
Anyway, I just realized that I forgot something in my first post; that is a REALLY cool rendition of Robotnik. Great work!
And I think the funny show, yes with Grounder and Scratch, was the very first to come out. After that was Sat-AM.
Now, the whole Eggman/Robotnik thing. In Japan he's -always- been called Eggman, never the name Robotnik, that was the American dub, probably to give the guy a bit more seriousness. He was still called Egg head or Moon Head(Julian's case) by Sonic as an insult though. However, when the very first Sonic Adventure game came out, Japan wanted to sort of merge the american and japanese fans into liking the games too and to try and make things easier for those who didn't know about him being called Eggman.
So, in that game Eggman's introduction is with Sonic saying "Look! A giant talking Egg!" and he angrily replies, "Silence! I am Dr. Robotnik! The greatest scientific genious if the WORLD!" while Sonic simply says "Whatever you say, Eggman."
So in that game, Eggman was just an insult Sonic's friends called him to annoy him.
Now, when Sonic Adventure 2 came out, he started being called Dr. Eggman, even while he kept using the name Robotnik and there we get to know about his grandfather Gerald Robotnik and his cousin Maria Robotnik who was Shadow's friend 50 years ago.
But when Robotnik does a live TV appearance in the game to threaten Earth with his new weapon, in the screen you see the words Eggman Empire. It's from there on that people started calling him Eggman and every game after that. His real name it's still Dr. Robotnik, he just uses Eggman like a nickname now with no bother of it being insulting anymore.
Archie also wanted to merge the fans, so on issues #50 they killed of Julian, spend a bunch of issues bringing new foes for Sonic and the gang and then started hinting a possible come back from Julian. In issues #75 he's officially "back", comic titled "Don't call it a Comeback", and there's a bit of a nice and awesome show down with Sonic and him but by the end of that and then #76 we see it's really Robo-Robotnik who was an alternate version of Julian who had already conquered his world and killed of his Sonic and had himself roboticized. After he's defeated in those issues and apparently blown up along with his space shuttle as he was a robot he transfered his conscience into another body from a whole set of bodies we get to see stored in a basement of Robotropolis. That new body was Eggman's body.
So for another bunch of issues Eggman was rather vicious as a robot, but as issues went on he started turning more tame and goofy (the way for Archie to get the old fans used to the new guy), in another issue a race of aliens turned Eggman back into human and that's how he's been ever since.
The old city of Robotropolis, that was really the original Mobotropolis got literally nuked to the ground. To prevent the blast from destroying everything else they managed to raise a shield the moment the nuke went in and so kept the explosion trapped inside a dome along with all the deathly radiation.
New Megaopolis was built in another location. I started skipping comics since then so not sure but I think that's actually where the ruins of the old human city that was around waaaay before the Archie storyline.
So, as a hardcore fan of the old Julian from both the show and the early Archie comics. I did not like the idea of killing him off just to bring in the new popular version from the games. I do like Eggman just as much, just preferred Julian because he was so much darker and evil. And I really don't like when Julian is called Eggman because they're completely different. I leave the term Eggman to the Japanese version only. Now Robotnik is more freely as every version uses it.
So do me a favor and in your flash, if any american version appears don't use the name Eggman on them and help spread the habit of it. :]
I don't mind explaining to the new fans because they were confused by Archie and blinded because they wanted to slowly erase the older versions to merge with Japan's and gather the newer and more numerous fans as they just want to make their profit. :/
I stopped reading the comic for a while since I was upset with their harsh choices, Now they got new writers and I've been reading them, but still won't buy them. But they're getting interesting again so might subscribe once more if that keeps up.
Good luck with the flash and let me know if you make it to go see it.
I'll let you know when I finish episode 1. It'll probably be a while; I've given RObotnik a new super airship to replace the Egg Carrier, in the style & spirit of his fish-themed fleet from Archie STH: the Silver Shark. It's HUGE, which means a lot of tweaking the animation. @_@
Anyway, I'll probably still use Eggman & Robotnik interchangeably for two reasons: one, the "Eggman Empire" has a nice ring to it, and two, it sometimes just sounds better in the dialog. Still, I'll keep your info in mind. Thanks again!
The TSG in my username means The Sonic Girl, which was a nickname an old friend in school gave me way back in 1997 I think. I've kept it for nostalgic reasons.
I love when Eggman uses those massive ships. So that's always a good thing with him. :3
